Enterprising Women of the Year Awards
Winner Over $5 million
in annual revenues

Sheri Orlowitz Shan Industries LLC

Sheri Orlowitz

Shan Industries LLC is one of the few majority woman-owned holding companies that acquires, owns and operates manufacturing businesses. The company focuses on acquiring businesses that it can grow and build to the next level.

Through a combination of value engineering, cost reduction services, visionary management, and product development rarely found in small companies, Shan has a proven track record of increasing market share and profitability. The company had 2002 revenues of $16 million.

As the owner of Shan Industries, Sheri Orlowitz plans to continue to grow her company organically through the development of new product lines and capabilities, and through synergistic acquisitions. She has set a goal of reaching $100 million in revenue within five years.

All of the Enterprising Women of the Year award winners share one thing in common. They support and mentor other women business owners and give back to their communities.

Sheri's primary focus is on children and she gives back in a number of ways. Perhaps her most important contribution is through the Orlowitz Children's Advocacy Center, a 22,000-square-foot facility in downtown Miami that houses seven agencies that help children who have been the victims of sexual abuse. Sheri sits on the board, raises money, and guides the Center's mission.

Her advice to other women entrepreneurs is to never take no for an answer. "If you believe you can, and you hold on to that belief, persistence, tenacity, and creative thinking will get you through," she says. "You make your own luck and there is plenty to go around."
