Kay
Koplovitz is a pioneer in cable television networks
and new media ventures. Kay founded USA Networks
in 1977, becoming the first female network president
in television history. She ran the company for 21
years.
Kay
was appointed by President Clinton to chair the
National Women's Business Council and created the
non-profit venture capital forum Springboard Enterprises.
Springboard has raised over a billion dollars in
venture capital over the past three years through
10 venture capital forums.
Currently
chairman of Broadway Television Network, Kay has
started her own angel fund for high net worth investors,
Angels4Equity. She has authored a book, Bold
Women, Big Ideas: Learning to Play the High-Risk
Entrepreneurial Game (an excerpt ran in a recent
issue of Enterprising Women). The book shares
her personal story of breaking the barriers of the
old-boy network and opening doors for women who
want to forge their own start-ups.
Kay
has spent a lifetime blazing trails for women in
business. For her remarkable accomplishments in
network television and her vision in creating Springboard
Enterprises, which has provided opportunities for
so many women entrepreneurs to grow their businesses
to the next level, Enterprising Women is
pleased to honor Kay Koplovitz with our 2003 Lifetime
Achievement Award.
