2006 Enterprising Women of the Year Awards

Issue: Vol. 7, No. 3

The 2006 Enterprising Women of the Year Award recipients represent businesses of all sizes from a diverse array of industries. But, they each share some important traits in common. To win the coveted award, they demonstrated to our judges that they had thriving, fast-growth businesses. More importantly, they convinced us that they were leaders in their communities and outstanding mentors for other women in business.

Our outreach to find these outstanding women each year is extensive. We partner with the leading organizations that serve the women’s business community, and they help us get the word out to their members and supporters. Our thanks to the Women Presidents’ Organization, the National Association of Women Business Owners, the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, Women Impacting Public Policy, the Business Women’s Network, eWomenNetwork, the Center for Women’s Business Research, Springboard Enterprises, Women’s Leadership Exchange, the Women’s Business Development Center, and the Global Summit of Women (for international nominations).

Through these organizations and other outreach, hundreds of nominations were submitted through our Web site or by mail or fax. Over the past four years, participation and interest in this award program has doubled each year.

Inductees to our Hall of Fame are women who have devoted a lifetime to building dynamic businesses and have given back to others in hundreds of ways. We recognize a lifetime of achievements and thank them for the tremendous difference they have made in the lives of others.

Our Advocacy Award winners represent CEOs or presidents of nonprofit organizations or membership organizations that are making an outstanding contribution in helping to grow the women’s business community.

We have included a snapshot of each of the winners to help you get to know them better. Their stories provide inspiration and motivation for every woman business owner.
