CARMEN CASTILLO was among the first to hear
the news that the Women Presidents’ Organization and the
Women’s Business Enterprise National Council planned to
launch a Zenith Group for women business owners with
more than $50 million in annual revenue. She wasted no
time getting on board, acting as an advisor, sponsor and
mentor for other women.
She founded her company, Superior Design
International, in 1992, and has offices in New York and
Florida. Certified as women-owned and minority-owned,
her company offers a variety of enterprise level outsourcing
options. SDI also maintains a global footprint, with operations
in Europe, North America, Australia, and most
recently, Bangalore, India and Beijing, China. |

KATHERINE HENSON was known for her generous
spirit, and the importance she placed on mentoring and
giving back to others. Tragically, Katherine passed away on
May 27 just before this issue of Enterprising Women went to
press. She had built Avail Workforce Management into a
dynamic staffing company with $100 million in 2005 revenues,
and she had a five year goal of reaching a billion in
sales.
A member of the Native American Business Alliance,
WIPP, the WPO, and a WBENC-certified firm, Katherine
believed that the key to a meaningful life was helping others.
In her honor, The Katherine P. Henson Fund for
Mentoring and Entrepreneurship has been established.
Those wishing to remember Katherine with a gift in her
honor may do so by sending a check to The WIPP Institute,
2709 W. Interstate 44, Oklahoma City, OK 73112. |
