2006 Enterprising Women of the Year Winners — Over $25 Million in Revenues

Issue: Vol. 7, No. 3

ROZ ALFORD & NANCY WILLIAMS are well known in the women’s entrepreneurship community for the leadership they have provided in key organizations. Nancy serves on the national board of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), Roz serves on the national board of the Women Presidents’
Organization, and both hold leadership positions with Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP). They have also
both served on the Enterprising Women National Advisory Board since 2003.

The talented pair are the founders and owners of ASAP, a Norcross, GA-based staffing company with over 400 highly trained, experienced consultants on staff. They have offices in Georgia, Alabama, New Jersey, Washington, DC, and Dallas, with expansion plans for Illinois and California and a goal of topping $70 million in annual revenue.

CARMEN CASTILLO was among the first to hear the news that the Women Presidents’ Organization and the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council planned to launch a Zenith Group for women business owners with more than $50 million in annual revenue. She wasted no time getting on board, acting as an advisor, sponsor and mentor for other women.

She founded her company, Superior Design International, in 1992, and has offices in New York and Florida. Certified as women-owned and minority-owned, her company offers a variety of enterprise level outsourcing options. SDI also maintains a global footprint, with operations in Europe, North America, Australia, and most recently, Bangalore, India and Beijing, China.

KATHERINE HENSON was known for her generous spirit, and the importance she placed on mentoring and giving back to others. Tragically, Katherine passed away on May 27 just before this issue of Enterprising Women went to press. She had built Avail Workforce Management into a dynamic staffing company with $100 million in 2005 revenues, and she had a five year goal of reaching a billion in sales.

A member of the Native American Business Alliance, WIPP, the WPO, and a WBENC-certified firm, Katherine believed that the key to a meaningful life was helping others. In her honor, The Katherine P. Henson Fund for Mentoring and Entrepreneurship has been established. Those wishing to remember Katherine with a gift in her honor may do so by sending a check to The WIPP Institute, 2709 W. Interstate 44, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.

The list of non-profit organizations that garner both her time and financial support is extensive, including the Boys and Girls Scouts, the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, Habitat for Humanity, and many others.

Diane operates Diane Turton Realtors, a full-service real estate agency with 26 offices, including 23 in New Jersey and three offices serving Palm Beach and Martin counties in Florida. More than doubling her sales volume in the last three years, Diane’s company closed sales worth over $1.25 billion in 2004 alone. Her company has been named one of the 50 fastest growing companies in New Jersey, and she has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2005 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award winner for New Jersey in the real estate sector.
